When facing large global events such as Russia invading Ukraine, we are often left to wonder what can I do as one person? As members of the physical therapy profession we are guided by Core Values such as trust, compassion, respecting the rights and dignity of others, and meeting the needs of our global community. Listen to one physical therapist assistant share about her experiences of translating these values outside of the clinic walls by helping set-up and run emergency shelters in Ukraine. You will hear how she worked with a larger community of others, often battling the elements and high emotional states, to put the Core Values to action. She will share how she now understands how work in the field of physical therapy can positively influence not just behaviors, but thoughts and attitudes towards fellow humans.
