This workshop is designed to assist physical therapist education program administrators and faculty to obtain programmatic accreditation. It includes an overview of the accreditation process, CAPTE’s expectations relevant to the Standards & Required Elements, and the required evidence of compliance. This workshop focuses on information essential for institutions developing a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant education program. Information is provided on:
- Developing a relationship with CAPTE staff
- Demonstrating institution's commitment to development of a quality program
- Showing good planning with readiness for matriculation as early as 3 weeks after CAPTE decision to grant Candidacy
- Setting high expectations up front, protecting students, and increasing the chances for a positive accreditation decision
- The purposes and processes of accreditation
- How to develop a Application for Candidacy that accurately reflects all program activities
Learning Objectives:
1. Describe the candidacy process.
2. Identify the requirements for achieving candidacy.
3. Describe CAPTE's expectations related to the PTA Standards and Required Elements and the PT Standards and Required Elements.
4. Identify what is necessary to complete and submit an Application for Candidacy.
5. Identify where to get additional information or help relevant to the Standards and Required Elements and/or the writing of an Application for Candidacy.
Course Instructions
- Click on the Contents tab to access course content (live Zoom links and/or Recordings).
- Click the Take Quiz button to complete the assessment. Learners will have 3 attempts to pass and must answer at least 70% of questions correctly.
- Click Fill Out Survey under the Evaluation listing to provide valuable course feedback. Scroll down on all questions as there may be answer options that expand past the size of the window.
- Click the View/Print Your Certificate button under the Certificate listing. You can view/print your certificate at any time by visiting the APTA Learning Center and clicking the CEU Certificate/Transcript link on the left-hand side of the page.
