Alicia Emerson

PT, DPT, PhD

Dr. Alicia J. Emerson practiced as a physical therapist for 15 years in Chicago, working primarily in medically underserved neighborhoods on the south and west sides.

Dr. Emerson earned her Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. She has attained advanced degrees while exploring pain mechanisms in rehabilitation.

Her patient population was linguistically and culturally diverse, often experiencing persistent pain with medically complex comorbidities.  She worked for the largest provider of Medicaid in the state of Illinois at the time of  expansion of Medicaid. Her experience with patients who were “naïve” to a health care system after an access barrier was removed sparked her PhD dissertation -  seeking to understand the larger influencing factors on the clinical conversations in chronic pain.

She now shares her experiences and passion with students and clinicians nationally and internationally.

Tabitha Galindo

PT, DPT, Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy

Dr. Tabitha Galindo is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy. She works as an Assistant Professor in Pacific University’s Physical Therapy Program and a community-based outpatient physical therapist. Dr. Galindo received her DPT in 2019 from Pacific University and is a candidate for a Doctor of Education degree in Healthcare Education and Leadership from Nebraska Methodist College. Dr. Galindo’s passion for education on trauma-informed approaches was cultivated as an APTA Delegate, where she served as the primary contact for HOD P07-24-04-08, “Recommended Education on Trauma-Informed Care Across the Physical Therapy Profession.”
