Allison Smith

Allison Smith

PT, DPT, PhD, OCS

Allison Smith is an Assistant Professor at the University of Minnesota where she helps teach anatomy, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, ethics, documentation and reimbursement, and contemporary PT practice. She is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in orthopedic physical therapy and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis in 2014 and her PhD in Physical Therapy from Texas Woman's University in Houston in 2021. Her clinical experience is in outpatient orthopedics with a focus on underserved communities and post-op trauma. She is involved in state advocacy efforts as part of APTA Minnesota's Governmental Affairs Committee and is involved in national advocacy efforts as the Federal Affairs Liaison for APTA's Academy of Education.
